Things to Read, Know, and Do

A Working List of Ways to Insist, Persist, and Resist

Hello, Friend,

I was going to rant today, but I thought it might be more useful to share the following information. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and powerless, you’re not alone. We’re under constant siege from hostile forces on multiple fronts. I try to take at least one day a week off to rest and reset, which I highly recommend, but the best antidote to feeling powerless is to empower ourselves. I created this list for someone I love who was feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. It’s not all-inclusive and it’s a working document, but it’s a starting point. I’ve gathered these links over time and putting them into a working categorized document makes them more accessible and actionable. If you have relevant things to add, please feel invited to share in the comments.

I know some folks get a little kerfuffled about the idea of us all being ‘in this together’, so I’ve tried to fine tune that a skootch by suggesting we’re all in these stormy seas together. Clearly we are all in different boats and that creates complexities. The thing about boats is if they come together with purpose they can become an armada. One boat may be vulnerable, but a fleet of ships can be a powerful force. There are more of us than there are people currently taking control, millions and millions more of us. If they’re going to create the storms and leave us all to sink or swim, then I believe we need to help each other stay afloat.

Hoist the sails, fasten the jib, grab the wheel! Avast and Ahoy, Me Hearties!
