I left Facebook 2 years ago and just deleted my Instagram app after the election, but did not take down anything political that I wrote, because I want there to be a record of where I stood for future generations. I am not afraid of the trolls and other idiots, I'm just so over them.
I regret taking down the political posts here, honestly, but obviously I'm here still speaking about these things and I plan to continue. I'm also over the trolls and idiots. I wrote a book with a chapter on my political views, and that can't be deleted and I have zero regrets about it. I plan to keep fighting the good fight as long as possible.
You KNOW I'm applauding your decision; you might remember I've loved my freedom for more than a decade. However, I'm digging the heck outta both long reads and Notes here. Seems same thus far. Hope it doesn't change.
Chagrined chuckle: good thing most people can 'read phone'. So often mine decides I don't actually know the word I want to type and changes it as I click send. I wonder if the word processor in this phone was coded by someone whose first language isn't English.
*Seems sane thus far.*
(Even typing that correction, I had to change the word three times. Usually that works. 🤞)
It is maddening. I am mostly angry about what it has done to people I love, people I have lost in real life because of propaganda and fake news. Here's to finding our way back to the light!
We all have to do what works best for us! Many of my artist friends depend on FB and Insta for their incomes. I still watch some content on YouTube, I just shut down my page there.
The desire to be reminded of our place in the larger, interconnected, interdependent web of life was one reason I decided to write my novel here on Substack. I was tired of auditioning and trying to produce copy designed to sell things. I was aching to listen to my own voice and those of other living things. It is not always easy but it IS always rewarding. I’m so glad you’re here :-)
Love this. The real world is quite an awesome inspiring place!
Yes! It truly is!

Brava! Oh, I hope so too! I like it here!

Thank you for your thoughts. I have been pretty much feeling the same and even somewhat angry at being duped and manipulated.

Yes - same.
Ditto, deleted all my Meta yesterday. Outstanding post, Margot!! Let’s touch the grass, stare at the blue sky, and ponder the beauty of the moon. 😊
Yes! More of this, dear Jane!
You made this complicated and deeply involved set of circumstances very clear. It was both easy to read and follow. I commend you for that!
Oh! I am so happy to hear that! Thank you. ❤️
Brilliant! I wish I was as brave as you. :)
When and if the time is right, you will be able to do it! ❤️
Yes. I have a FB page, because of those 2 or 3 people I can only find there. No more of the other stuff, except you tube, have to get info somewhere.

Selling some paintings thru FB saved me a couple of years ago, the trick seems to not get hooked.
That is definitely the trick!
Bravo, Margot.

I get it, I really do. Keep following your bliss! It's everything. (I'm so glad to be here and to connect with wonderful people like you, Jena!)
