I loved this glimpse into your childhood. And the bat?! I’m surprised you didn’t have to have the rabies treatment. Someone I know had to have the shots when he got the saliva of a rabid raccoon on him. Scary. Did you miss your dad? He sounded lovely. As for ghosts ask me about the x-mas eve burgler - lol.
Wow! Really? That is scary! It was almost 60 years ago, so I may be misremembering. I did miss my Dad, a lot, but he had some issues that made being a responsible grown-up challenging. These are a few of the good memories.
Ahhhh…that’s really too bad. I like how you turned out and hoped he played an ongoing part.
Ok so X-mas Eve
One night I saw and heard someone come in through my bedroom window, step on the end of my bed and then tiptoe out of the room headed towards the living room. I was terrified and ran down the hall to tell my parents. My dad got out his gun and went down to the living room fully expecting to find a burglar. Nothing. He was pissed and I got a spanking. Three days later (on X-mas eve) the same thing happened and all our X-mas presents were stolen. I wasn’t sure if my parents were more upset about the presents being taken or me knowing it was going to happen ahead of time. Shrugs…I was an odd kid :-)
They are just memories, and like life they are complicated. You couldn’t make ghosts disappear or stop car accidents or keep bats away. I don’t see it as black and white, but all of the infinite shades that fall in between. We made it! I love you! 😘
Wow! That had to be unnerving! After we moved from there I never saw ghosts again. I’ve had plenty of other supernatural experiences, though. Reality is an illusion!
I think it was their house. Something must have happened to them as a family. You’re not odd, you’re real and that makes other people feel uncomfortable. That’s entirely their problem!
