Laughing about the glasses. My prescription needs updating ;-)
As for the rest, I am experiencing much of the same. Having studied journalism and spent a great deal of my career ferreting out the truth (I would have been mortified to publish most of what passes are "real" news these days) I am really dismayed by the media's failure to accurately report what is going on.
As you said, "It’s become painfully clear that the American media loves ratings far more than they love this fragile experiment in democracy. News is a business and views drive the bottom line. Right wing, left wing, chicken wing, wingdings, wing nuts…"
It is dismaying, these are some strange times indeed.
We now have a rescue Frenchie! She was an Amish breeding dog, like our chihuahua. It definitely wasn't in our plan to have 6 dogs! Yet, there she was and here we are. She's a sweetie, and we have settled on the name Truffles, which she seems to like.
I worked with the head of the Humane Society here in NC for many years and she rescued Frenchies. She even attended conferences of breeders where she outbid potential buyers. One of her big concerns was how the breed has many genetic problems that are not being addressed. The puppy mill industry is shameful and the Amish are some of the worst. What they do to their horses is despicable.
Anyway, did not mean to get negative on you. I am delighted to meet Truffles and to hear you are another rescuer ;-)
I feel awful for these dog breeds with compressed snouts. I feel it should no longer be legal to keep breeding them. Humans can be cruel and selfish and that makes me sad.
What dairy cows endure is unconscionable. I cannot fathom treating any animal with anything but love and compassion.
She's a hoot for sure and I'm happy we can help give her a better life than the one she had before.

Many MANY wing nuts. Sigh...
P.S. Do you have a Frenchie?
