Hello, Friend,
I don’t usually post on Saturdays, but I just finished watching the indomitable Rachel Maddow break it all down with her singular efficiency and I wanted to check in with you. The weekly Friday Night Frights from the Burger Hamberder King and his JeXter are absofreakinglutely exhausting, by design.
But enough about me because…The Lady Party is all about we!
I wish it was also all about ‘whee!’, but that’s not the sentiment that meets this moment.
How are you? Are you hanging in there? Are you finding your way? Are you remembering to breathe, eat, rest, unplug? Is there anything I can do to help? Is there anything you’d like to see more of around these parts? Are there things you’d like me to dig into and explore for clarity while the information is still out there and I’m still able to post essays here? Knowledge is power and the more we understand, perhaps, the more we will be able to find effective ways to fight back. Even small acts can have big impact. Like many of us who aren’t able to pack up our circus and get out of town, I’m here for the long haul.
Whee.
We will need each other more than ever as we march bravely forward, together.

Love this portrait! Have a suggestion. Why not turn them into Lady Wisdom cards with quotes from each of the women you’ve created portraits of on the back? I can show you how to get them printed if you’d like. Offer them one by one (one a month?) so folks could buy and collect them like baseball cards? I can think of at least a dozen women who deserve to be quoted and have portraits done. Much more appealing tome than photos of men who play baseball ;-)
I do like your art.
I'm struggling a lot right now. I live in a Midwestern town and worked for 25 years in our school system. Just heard yesterday that ICE has arrived in our county. Within 2 hours the had shut down a long-running family owned restaurant. What is extremely worrisome is that one of our elementary schools is 98% Latino.
Keep good thoughts headed our way. I have picked my big girl under drawers up and are signing petitions and sending letters to my senators again. And our Governor is fighting back! So, small acts but they're something.
