I love this idea Margot. It actually reminds me a bit of the animals in the current story I am working on based on Cherokee traditions. Definitely not kid material :-)

I also really enjoyed your description of how it is all unfolding. For me that's how the germ of a story usually takes root and grows. The process of creation feeds, waters, and grows the idea. I can't wait to see where you go with it.

P.S. Having written several children's book I can attest that it is indeed a tough market.

Yes, publishing in general has become very tough. I stepped out of it after my last book. If I do go forward with this I will probably self-publish. Your book sounds intriguing! Sending lots of good energy to you as you take the journey!

Thank you. Keep me posted, please. After an unpleasant experience with a traditional publisher I pulled my children's books and have been self-publishing ever since. So I say go for it and let me know if I can help at all.

My Cherokee adventure (not sure what else to call it) is being told on Substack chapter by chapter. If there is enough interest, I'll probably self-publish it as well. If nothing else it is giving me a chance to expand and enhance my writing chops. I am having fun and for a writer that says A LOT.
