Hello, Friend,
If it feels as if the chaos is ratcheted up another notch with every passing week, that’s because it is. Constant chaos is the game plan, after all. They may be inept and idiotic cartoon villains, but the things they’re doing are dead serious. It’s increasingly challenging to find any fun in the dysfunctional, yet we strive. By we I mean me, the Royal We. I strive. I strive to find the bits of funny in the lazy shit river of misery down which we are all currently floating.
Whee.

Excuse me, sir, we don’t mean to bother you, is that a gun in your raincoat or are you just happy to see us?
The violence being fomented by the relentless right wing lies and propaganda from our poisonous president, his heinous henchmen and women, egregious elected officials, and the reprobate right wing media disinformation machine is, quite frankly, terrifying. People are being brainwashed, weaponized, and incentivized. Two people lost their lives in Minnesota and two more are struggling to survive. Contrary to the GOP narrative, the shooter was a Trump supporting, extremist Christian Nationalist. There’s also this worth pondering “In a search of Boelter's wife's car, law enforcement recovered two handguns, approximately $10,000 in cash and passports for Boelter's wife and her children.”
Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota Joseph Thompson said, “A motive is unclear.”
Dude had a manifesto and a hit list of prominent Democrats.
It’s a real headscratcher, isn’t it?
Another hateful right wing white dude drove an SUV into a crowd in Culpeper, Virginia on Saturday after the No Kings protest. One person was struck, but there are no reported injuries.
He’s been charged with reckless driving. Not attempted manslaughter, though.
It’s not just what happened this past weekend, it’s also what almost happened in the town where my husband and I used to have a fair trade gallery (and where we might have been had there not been severe air quality alerts on Saturday.) Local authorities arrested a 31 year old man who had, according to police, “a Sig Sauer P320 handgun hidden in his clothing, along with three loaded Sig Sauer handgun magazines, six loaded assault rifle magazines, an M9 bayonet knife, pepper spray, a pocket knife, a ski mask, and gloves.” Are we shocked that he’s another middle class conservative suburban white man? Authorities later discovered 13 homemade pipe bombs at his residence where he lives with his brother. The brother has not been charged, but do they honestly think he didn’t know what was happening in the house that they shared?
There seems to be a pattern here. When you know that someone is preparing to commit mass murder and you do nothing you’re an accessory. Right?!
The local media reports: “There's no word on what Krebs' intent or motive was.”
FFS, Sherlock, what’s your first clue?
ALSO, check out the arrest video because it is something to behold. You would think he was being given a citation for jaywalking. Clearly we have two systems of justice. This town is the county seat and he was a block away from the county courthouse, fully locked and loaded. Unfreakingbelievable.
Fuck Your Freedom, Because…Freedumb!
Why is it the people who scream the loudest about liberty and freedom are the first ones to cheer the infringement of other people’s rights? They go from ranting about the ‘tyranny’ of vaccines, masks, and pandemic fueled lockdowns to enforcing the tyranny of unchecked disease through denying the rest of us the right to be vaccinated, protect ourselves with masks, or work from home if we are vulnerable. They love the Constitution when they want to justify their gun collection, but not as much when it’s protecting other people’s rights to free speech, assembly, and Habeus Corpus. Yesterday a new level of freedumb was unlocked via a January Executive Order which allows staff at the VA to refuse medical treatment to unmarried or Democratic veterans if it goes against their conscience. WTAF? How, exactly, is denying your Hippocratic Oath a matter of conscience? I’ll answer my own question. It’s a matter of a lack of conscience and, also, a breach of your oath. People put their lives on the line for your freedom and you would deny them theirs? Shame on you. Shame on this shameless administration. Shame on the GOP for plumbing new depths of depravity with every passing week.
One can only hope that DonOLD’s blatant disdain for those who serve will mean they won’t serve him if he orders them to turn on their fellow citizens.

War, what is it good for? Abso-WTF-lutely nothing!
If there’s an upside to the looming specter of WWIII, perhaps the sweet schadenfreude of MAGA Town realizing their isolationist savior is just another shifty politician telling them what they wanted to hear. Donny Looselips, a man incapable of keeping a secret unless it’s tucked in a stolen box in a public restroom at Mara-Lago, let it slip that he’s all in on a full scale war with Iran. So much for no more wars. Is it just me or is the Truthing of military plans absolute insanity? WTAF is happening? Signalgate was bad enough, but we’ve reached a new level of intelligence breach.
Is there not a single grown-up in his general vicinity?
I’d like to ask this question, and it is rhetorical so there’s no need for answers, “Why is the only country in the world to drop not one but TWO nuclear bombs on another country in charge of who gets to have a nuclear weapon?”
I have an idea. How about no one.
NO ONE gets a nuclear weapon.
How about NO ONE gets to wage war anymore.
How about we create an international anti-war pact and anyone who breaks it is arrested and put into a gulag. If you want to go to war, you get in a fucking ring with the leaders of the other countries and you beat the shit out of each other and leave the rest of us out of it.
I AM SO FUCKING SICK OF WAR.
FUCK WAR. FUCK WARMONGERS. FUCK THE INDUSTRIAL MILITARY COMPLEX.
NO MORE WAR.
Yes. That’s how I really feel.

Time for a Little Dirty Talk
And now, once again, we take a deep breath and escape into the soothing bosom of science. Science, something in which rational people can believe.
This writer unplugs every day to spend time in the real world, and part of that time is spent in her garden. In my pastoral escape from our creeping dystopia, surrounded by flowers, pollinators, and an ever changing array of chirping birbs, I prune and plant, weed and seed, water and wonder. According to science, gardening is good for us. More pointedly, digging in the dirt helps make us happier and healthier. Our obsession with cleanliness is misplaced, bacteria in dirt releases Mycobacterium vaccae, which may elevate our mood through increased serotonin production. There has been a lot of recent talk about our microbiomes and the ways in which they’ve been compromised through our modern lifestyle. According to this NIH study, exposure to “soil contributes to the human gut microbiome—it was essential in the evolution of the human gut microbiome and it is a major inoculant and provider of beneficial gut microorganisms.” Microbes, probiotics, electrons, immune boosters, gardening is good for the mind, body, and spirit!
With that, I once again encourage you to put down the hand sanitizer and go touch some dirt.
Dirt, it does a body good.
I could go on, as we all well know, but I have dirt to dig and dogs to snuggle and a pile of fox cards to paint. I’ll be MIA tomorrow and we’ll see what happens Friday…I have some real life things that need my presence. Play nice with each other until I return.
Dig it? We’d dig it if you shared it! Thank you!

I agree with Jena. You are very articulate. You do such a great job of putting all that I need to know in a concise 5-minute read full of passion, followed by a sliver of sanity.
Today, when I grew so tired of all the nincompoopery going on in our country, I got in the car and drove to a nursery, where I spent hours walking among the plants, touching them, and getting my hands quite dirty. One of my favorite quotes is "You are never too old to play in the dirt!"
I agree 💯 you hit it right on the head! That shithead is responsible for everything that has happened since he took office and there is not one responsible adult in his vicinity! Sparkle my friend ❤️🕊🦩🦅✨️🐇🐄🐮🐶
