Hello, Friend,
Welcome to my old friends taking the leap of faith with me from Meta platforms. Welcome to my new friends who have decided to join the party! I am in the process of shuttering Meta social media platforms and moving here. If you subscribed via email, and you are not sure you love getting emails, I totally understand. You can create a profile on Substack and either opt to subscribe or opt to just follow me. To follow me go to my profile and hit the three dots to the right of Subscribe(d) and Message, then hit follow. I will follow you back, but give me a moment because I am overwhelmed right now! This platform allows creatives to offer subscriptions for free or paid which helps support the considerable time and effort behind creative work. The published content is sent via email, but you can opt out of emails and still be subscribed. If you pledge support, I will let you know before I turn on optional paid subscriptions. However, there will always be free content here, so don’t stress about it. If you can afford to support it, it will help me pay the rent and subsidize the various programs and tools I use for content creation.
Your home feed is only filled the things into which you have opted from pages and friends, like a regular social media feed without an algorithm hiding or adding unwanted things. You can find the latest content from the publications to which you’ve subscribed at the top of your page. You also have the option to explore topics and find new publishers to follow at the tippy top of your page. You can opt to create content, connect with friends, and you can follow or subscribe to publishers who offer a variety of things including writing, video, live streaming, audio, podcasting, and images. It’s a very robust platform with a lot of potential for any creative, not just writers. I plan to explore it all, but will not publish more than once a day and at most five days a week. I do not want to overwhelm people.
I will continue to make Mornings with Madge videos, but they will likely be a little longer than one minute. I will write essays. I will work towards a podcast. I will share art and offer art and art embellished items for purchase. I will do some live streaming events.
Bear with me while I figure this out. It may be a little bumpy at first. I’ll get it together and we will find some comfort, connection, conversation, community, and joy here.
We’ll shine our lights and make some good trouble, together. Thank you for being a friend.
Love, Margot
Let’s make some good trouble!
Welcome to all you newbies!
