Thoughts About Things
Various and sundry musings and observations
Hello, Friend,
Here are a few things I am thinking about today.
Deep thoughts, with Madge.
If everything is a distraction, is anything a distraction? Everything and nothing are distractions when chaos is the game plan. This is called Schrödinger's Distraction.
Meanwhile…
The pink moon really was pink here! It was only visible for a few minutes on Wednesday, but it was glorious. Though named for the moss phlox that blooms this time of year, it rose to the occasion. Double pun, activated.
Our gardens are a flurry of activity! Daffodils are blooming, tulips are waiting in the wings. The weeping cherry and magnolia are poised to burst in an explosion of pink. Hostas, catmint, bleeding hearts, astilbe, ferns, sage, sedum, thyme, yarrow, and day lilies are emerging from their winter slumber. Lilacs and hydrangeas are budding. Dandelions and wild violets (my two favorite flowers) are arriving on schedule. Spring is springing and I am here for it! My allergies are also here for it! Snork.
My janky arm/neck are slowly improving. I can’t wait to get back to making art. I have paintings to paint, galdangy!
I’m baking a Key Lime Toasted Coconut cheesecake for Sunday, a day on which we celebrate the return of spring around these parts. Every season brings us gifts. How lucky are we to be here now to receive them?
As usual, spring weather is all over the map, but we’re having more warm days than cool and that gives me (and the flora and fauna) life! My closet, however, is baffled.
Speaking of spring and flowers and the pollinators who make them thrive…I was so happy to read that scientists have uncovered the nutrients bees are missing and are developing a supplement that could save collapsing colonies! If we don’t save the bees, we are going to bee in serious trouble. So many puns…
I was reminded this morning of the folly of man while watching this video of the Andromeda Galaxy. When you consider there are that many stars in one galaxy in an infinite universe of infinite galaxies it really shifts your perspective. These horrible people doing horrible things thinking themselves so horribly important. They are trivial in the face of the vastness of time and space. They, too, will return to the great cosmic dustbin. Hopefully sooner than later.
This is interesting.
With that I leave you to ponder the mysteries, smell the flowers, eat dessert first, celebrate what brings you joy, love each other, practice random kindness, and remain curious. It’s a pretty big universe, so maybe lift your gaze and take it all in!
