Hello, Friend,
When I began my ‘paint all the animals’ kick, I painted ‘formal’ portraits of our then five dogs. (We have six dogs now. I have to paint a portrait of Truffles, the Moo Deng of Dogs, and also Cowbert and Lambert.) Above you will find a portrait of Buddy a.k.a. Sir Budlingtonfordshire of Kirkwood. Buddy the Elf. Budder Bean. Budder Bean Boi. Budd Budd. Budders. Bean. Bean Bean the Dancing Machine. Beaner.
All dogs must have at least 10 names, as written in The Dog Having Code.
Buddy has abnormally long eyelashes. It’s very glam and he’s totally down with it. He is the sweetest boi of all the sweetest bois in the history of sweet bois. If you need a cuddle (or a ‘Buddle’ as I call them), he’s your little dude. He’s also an excitable boi. When it’s walky time, he cannot control his enthusiasm. We have tried and tried to get him to take it down a few notches, but he just can’t help himself. He loves his walkies, man. It’s a good thing he loves walkies, because he also loves his snackies. I have to watch him or he’ll snarf up every last morsel of food and leave the other dogs with empty bowls. When he does this, I call him Buddy Hoover.
That makes 11 names. Ha ha!
Buddy is the sweetest boi and he brings all the joi, joy, the joie. He puts the joie in the vivre as do all six of our goofy doggos. Therefore there will be more doggo content moving forward.
As is written in The Dog Having Code.
My dogs remind me to be present, to maintain enthusiasm, to stay curious, to be gentle and loving, to be loyal, and to enjoy my walkies and snackies and snuggles. Making whimsical weird art gets me out of my head and into the flow state.
I am trying to find some balance in these chaotic times. I make no promises this Substack will always be upbeat or always be illuminating or always be anything at all, because I am an insatiably curious, endlessly restless, and ever evolving woman of many moods and facets. I hope you’ll stick around for the journey and that we can find the balance between staying aware, fighting the good fight, exploring the power of creativity, and maintaining our joy.
That’s the plan.
That and more animals in hats.
Woot.
If you enjoyed this absurdity, I’d be ever so delighted if you showed it a little love with a heart, a comment, or a share!

You are one super amazing woman. I love all aspects of you.
I think you perfectly captured the sweet boy's eyes.
And More animals in hats Is always a good thing
