Hello, Friend,
It’s FriYAY and I’m still figuring out what that means here at The Lady Party. Today it means I’m sharing a digital artwork from my Iconic Women series for Margot Potter Studios, which is apropos for Women’s History Month.
“Life takes guts.”
Life does take guts. Lucy knew all about that. To achieve what she did in the time that she did it at the age that she was (and after the divorce from Desi), that took guts. It took grit. It took moxie, chutzpah, and tenacity. It took smarts. It took savvy.
Lucy wasn’t just a comedic genius, she was also a television pioneer. She developed some of the most iconic and enduring TV franchises including Star Trek and Mission Impossible. She was co-star and co-producer with Desi of I Love Lucy and, after taking over Desilu Productions, she produced and starred in The Lucy Show, which ran for six years on CBS.
She’s an icon and an inspiration and one of my lifelong idols.
I really do love Lucy.
Taking a page from Lucy’s legacy, here’s to digging deep and finding our resolve, especially in these trying times.

As a woman who started working in the Industry at 22 during the very sexist 80’s, and told I would ‘never be more than a secretary in this business’, Lucy was a driving force. In 1989, I met my own red headed woman named Margaret Henderson, who knew what it was like to work her way up in the industry. She took me under her wing and allowed me to do my job as a talent rep in my own ‘think outside of the box way’. I became a successful talent agent and went on to open my own management company in 1997. By 2010, I outlasted the man who made the secretary remark over and over in the industry by 20 years.
I raise a cup to Lucy, Maggi and all of the women who broke down walls and paved the way for this community college educated, quirky, tattooed, don’t ever put me in a box woman to successfully do things her way in spite of the naysayers.
I love Lucy, she is still one of my favorites. It was good to read this, as it has been an exceptionally hard week, the whole family had noro virus and I am still fighting my was back. Have a great day and Lady on!!!
