Hello, Friend,
I need a palate cleanser today, and perhaps you do, too. I’m here to provide some encouragement, support, and a warm cup of kindness. I feel like these things are in short supply at the moment. We can’t let this dumpster fire of a panic inducing yes this is actually happening coup-coup-ca-choup erase our humanity.
Everyone is doing their best and their best varies from moment to moment. Your best varies, too, friend, and that’s okay.
“Be loved. Be known. Love people and know people. Be so brave as to raise a hand for help when you need it. Make friends and make sure they know they matter. Be loyal to them and fight for them. Remind them what’s true and invite them to do the same when you forget. If you do some losing or you walk with someone else in their defeat, live with dignity and grace. It is a middle finger to the darkness.”
Jamie Tworkowski, If You Feel Too Much: Thoughts on Things Found and Lost and Hoped For
If you’re feeling deflated and defeated by the shit show, the apathy, and the media whitewashing and you’re simultaneously navigating the gut punch of the Caryns and Brads in your feeds judging your reactions and efforts as insufficient, just remember that no one gets out of here alive, not even the Mad King or his Mars obsessed Jexter, and ‘it’s none of your business what other people think about you.’
I do realize that I started this week yelling at complacent people to wake up. If you’re reading this, you’re probably already awake, eyes wide open, palms sweating, mind racing, trying to remember what sleep felt like.

My dear fellow warrior, give yourself some grace. Take a deep breath. Maybe take a wee break and reconnect with the world. Have a sippy sip and a snacky snack and a snuggly snugg under a soft blanky with a puppy or a kitty cat or a loved one or a Squishmallow or a fluffy pillow, whatever works. I call this ‘Soft Snuggle Time’, and the dogs and I do it for at least a few minutes every afternoon. Make some art, play some music, read a great book, dance a goofy jig, watch a happy movie, take a walk, and touch some grass. Remind yourself why you’re fighting the good fight, what is at stake, and who and what really matters. Let the #worstcircusever and the trolls and the noise and the endless barrage of outrage inducing calamities go for a moment or two. It will all still be there in ten minutes or five hours or tomorrow. If you give yourself some space to exhale, you’ll be better equipped to navigate it.
“Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.”
Maya Angelou
Yup, it’s a five alarm fire, but you don’t have to put it out all by yourself. This is a long haul and you will burn out if you don’t rest now and again.
Tag team, you’re out! Go have some fun.
Fun?! Madge how can I have any fun in the middle of this?
People live through all manner of atrocities and, inexplicably, the sun still rises and sets and they find small bits of joy to sustain them. Go find some small bits of joy. Have some fun. It’s okay. You’re okay.
It’s going to be okay.
Eventually.
Maybe.
Hopefully.

It takes copious amounts of moxie, chutzpah, and caffeine to fuel this lady party, consider buying the hostess a cup of coffee!
ARGH, typo right out of the gate! Thankful for the edit button, but if you got an email with palette cleanser, it is supposed to be palate cleanser. Derp.
Great advice! Let us be there for each other. This too shall pass, but much quicker if we stand up to the tyranny.
