Hello, Friend,
Welcome to For Farm’s Sake Fridays, your weekly reprieve from the shittiest shit show (at least until stick season returns.) I need to stock up on sunshine, tend the gardens, hang out with Cowbert, and the dogs are tired of sitting around watching me tippity tap on these keys.
Mr. Potter has constructed a giant tripod to support three 25 foot tall passionflower vines we’re planting in the Experimental Garden. Our permanent flock of house finches will love the cover the vines provide and the pollinators go wild for passionflowers. They smell heavenly, which helps counter the other not so heavenly farm smells.
Cowbert has been hanging in there, little trooper that he is. We have a young Amish man named Levi who does work around the farm and today he helped me fend off the (asshole) horses and ram so I could give sweet Cowbert some animal crackers. I thought Levi might think it weird that I’ve befriended a cow, but he doesn’t think it weird at all. (Or at least he was polite enough to pretend it’s perfectly normal.)
Our frog pond is still lacking a frogbert. I’m not sure what’s going on this year, but we remain hopeful. If you happen upon a frog seeking a pond, send him our way.
I’m off to touch grass and step away from this virtual reality. I highly recommend unplugging and reconnecting with real life. Dig in the dirt, plant some green things, tend to them, and watch them grow! Even if it’s just a porch planter or a house plant or a visit to a local garden or park, it does your soul good. Get out there and get you some wonder!
“When the world wearies and ceases to satisfy, there is always the garden.”

Enjoy your weekend and hug cowbert for me, or just give him a treat...he is cute. I'm just hanging out waiting and packing. I leave for Michigan on Thursday and time with family. Always fun. Sparkle ✨️ on my friend 🧡
Have a great weekend Margot and give Nature a HUGE hug !! I don't have a garden but I do have in-door plants that need some TLC !!
