A Request
We Get by with a Little Help from Our Friends

Hello, Friend,
Today I have a request. I’m looking for some leads on reasonably compensated creative PT work from home. Would you have any to share?
Here’s an overview of my experience and skills:
I’ve written and published 7 books on DIY jewelry making and design, a hardcover humor book, and several e-books. My first book was a best seller in the jewelry making category and my first three jewelry making books were featured in a stand alone display in every bead aisle of every Michaels’ store in the US.
I’m a classically trained actress with a BA in theater from Kennesaw State University. I have extensive experience as a performer, in theatre, on camera, and as a rock, jazz, country, rockabilly, cabaret, and swing vocalist.
I’m a visual artist with an array of skills including painting, mixed media, collage, and wearable art.
I had a robust social media presence for a number of years. In building my following on those platforms I taught myself photo editing with Adobe products, video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro/Rush and Magix software, layered graphics using PicMonkey and Photoshop, and digital art using ProCreate. I used these skills to create digital content for myself and various clients.
I’ve built websites on WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace, Wix, and Shopify.
I was a PR/Marketing expert for a DIY jewelry making company working with designers to create advertorial content for print and digital publication.
I was Interim Editor of Simply Beads magazine for a year after several years as their features writer.
I’ve designed for and consulted with most of the biggest companies in the DIY industry including Plaid Crafts, ILovetoCreate, Swarovski, Joann Fabrics, Michaels, AC Moore Stores, Beadalon, WireJewelry.com, Walnut Hollow, and many more.
I spent 12 years as an on-air product expert at QVC helping to sell millions of dollars in product. I’ve also appeared on QVC UK, The Shopping Channel in Canada, and JTV. I designed a series of stained glass nightlights that were sold on QVC.
Mr. Potter and I appeared on TLC’s CraftWars and I was a finalist in the Hallmark Home and Family DIY Star contest.
Mr. Potter and I owned and operated a fair trade art gallery and bead store for five years in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Prior to that that, I spent 12 years as a server and manager in the restaurant industry, which (as far as I’m concerned) is the equivalent of a PhD in psychology.
I’ve been CEO of our corporation for over 20 years.
I’m looking for flexible, part time contracted work I can do from home while I continue to work on my art and writing. I’m focused, smart, creative, talented, and hard working. I can provide references and a formal resume upon request, however my experience isn’t conventional/linear since it’s mostly been freelance and, as you can see above, prolific and varied.
I’m not looking to hire anyone at this time. Therefore I don’t wish to pay anyone for advice about what color parachute I need or buying into MLM or other ‘get rich quick’ scenarios. If you have viable information on part time compensated creative work from home that you are willing and able to share, I’d greatly appreciate it.
Contact me at margot@margotpotter.com, leave a comment, or DM me if you have any leads. Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.
BTW: If you dig The Lady Party with Margot Potter, you can support the work with a very affordable annual paid sub!
Or consider buying a cup of coffee for your stalwart writer!

I wish I knew of something reliable, but all I've got is painting encouragement (which when it comes to steady income is, as my Grandfather used to say "chicken one day and feathers the next"). The unfortunate reality is that between this economy, and the AI monster, making a living as a creative is getting harder and harder. The only other thing that comes to mind is resurrecting the Retro Fab, but that requires not only shopping, but space, and social media... Web design, maybe? I know zero about it, but you do have the rare combination of visual and verbal expression/creativity. Whatever path you take, know that I'm here cheering you on, and sending love and support! ♥
Walk into any Josh Shapiro office and give them what you just posted. ANY campaign is going to LOVE you!!!!
